Hi all, sorry I've not posted in ages, been up to my eyes in journeyman painting and tournament painting, then being drawn into Necromunda and Mordheim. It has been a very busy few weeks to say the least, quick side not to those of you who don't recognise the names Necromunda and Mordheim they are "Specialist" Games Workshop games, both skirmish based so low model count and relatively simple to play through, only in GW's infinite wisdom they decided to stop supporting the systems ages back so they're a little bit of an unknown to most people pre 2000ish.
Anyway, before I go further down the GW tangent, I wanted to just put a few quick things up as I've not much time spare and can't do full profiles, so heres a couple of snap shots on models I've been trying out.
Karchev
You play Karchev I guarantee at least one person will ask "where's your warcaster?" more so if you run him in an all jack list which Karchev can pull off upto 35 points. Main things with Karchev, his spell side arms is a must always have it up, it makes all your jacks in his (albeit small) control area immune to knock down and the best bit comes when by having jacks in base to base with each other they gain +1 DEF for each jack in base to base, so the big K himself can be DEF 17 quite comfortably, as long as you can get the models to fit where you want them to.
Iron Fang Pikemen
I've been running these guys as the Black Dragons with the Black Dragon UA and the very sight of them seems to knock opponents a little off, I've not had much use out of them yet (partly as I've got them in a list with two Doom Reaver units, Kayazy Assassins and Under Boss, Nyss hunters and Beast 09) but they do have great potential, plus the Black Dragon mini feat makes them nigh unkillable for a turn via normal damage methods.
Iron Fang Kovnik
This is a model I have been waiting for ever since it was leaked and in a word, wow. As a stand alone model it's a standard solo that can jack marshal but has no drive, put him with Shield wall capable models and he's already looking like a good investment. Then to top it off he comes with immunity to knock down for all Iron Fangs in his command range (equal to that of Irusk's) and himself, suddenly that pKreoss pop and drop tactic doesn't look half as scary anymore.
Devastator
This jack is crazy, ARM 25 is pretty hard to get through to the point where even a Conquest's main gun on a direct hit, with boosted damage only just equalled the ARM. Add to this the Rain of Death attack, see that block of stealthed infantry? Charge the Devastator in using Bulldoze to get right in their midst then pop a blast equal in power to the Decimator's Buzz Saw in base to base and requiring 3 or more on two dice to kill average stealthed infantry. One word of advice watch for models with Armour piercing, the Armoured Shell rule doesn't count as shields so the ARM is worked out like so 25/2 = 12.5 rounded up to ARM 13, while thats still hard to get through considering the average POW of Armour piercing weapons is about the same as the P+S of a Mechanic's wrench enough focused fire will take an arm off taking 4 ARM off you.
